Chainsaw Maintenance – NPTC CS30 - SFT Essential Tool Roll

In response to recent requests I’ve put together a set of basic tools for chainsaw maintenance, typically everything needed to work on the chainsaw and do the maintenance required during Lantra ITA Training and NPTC CS30 assessment. They are now standard issue to clients hiring chainsaws and are also available to buy at cost  (approx £60 a set) The tool roll has 10 pockets, a zipped section and a couple more holders and comprises the following:

 Ropes courses have been around since 30s, but have recently become more popular with around 1,200 courses in the UK alone. They have long been used for development of skills & character, sometimes as therapy and of course for fun!

The European Ropes Course Association (ERCA) was established in 2003 and represents the interests of ropes course builders, instructor’s, operators and trainers. In addition to work on standards for ropes course builders they have developed courses for instructors.

Aerial Rescue - NPTC Update CS38 – 4^thFebruary 2011

The last round of assessor updates for Tree Climbing & Aerial Rescue (delayed from December due to snow!) took place last week at Merrist Wood College in Guidlford and attempted to standard set some of the key points for assessors.

The Knot Guide app for the iPhone (also available android) comes in both a free and paid version (£1.19) – you get more knots and no adverts on the paid version - 95 knots are sorted into categories or can be searched by name, and then saved in favourites. There is also a small section on rope/knot terminology.

Many readers will have Lyon equipment in their kitbags and will also recognise the company as a supplier of Petzl products, but it is perhaps less well known for the training it supplies in the rope access industry and for its technical symposium.
