Chainsaw Maintenance – City & Guilds - SFT Essential Tool Roll

In response to recent requests I’ve put together a set of basic tools for chainsaw maintenance, typically everything needed to work on the chainsaw and do the maintenance required during Lantra ITA Training and City & Guilds assessment. They are now standard issue to clients hiring chainsaws. The tool roll has 10 pockets, a zipped section and a couple more holders and comprises the following:

  • Box/combination spanner
  • Tuning screwdriver
  • Chain Filing Kit – 3 tools, round file & holder, flat file & depth gauge setting tool #
  • Pliers
  • Feeler gauge
  • Screwdrivers flat & pozi
  • Set square
  • Vernier
  • Snowflake for measuring chain pitch, guide bar gauge etc
  • Drive sprocket wear tool
  • Torx screwdriver or allen key*
  • Cleaning brushes
  • Grease gun*
  • Wire hook for fuel filter
  • Sponge to block air filter
  • Gloves (light duty)

#              appropriate to your chain

*               husqvarna or stihl as appropriate

Obviously the kit can be expanded, but the real benefit is that a dedicated chainsaw tool kit is readily at hand, can easily be taken into the field and in training and assessment can act as a prompt – why is that set square in there?
