Training Courses
We offer a range of chainsaw courses from basic chainsaw maintenance and crosscutting to felling and advanced windblown trees.
This course is for people who are required to deal with Uprooted and/or Windblown trees in open areas, have attended the basic chainsaw courses in this series. It is designed to prepare candidates for City & GUilds (NPTC) Assessment CS34 & CS35. (old)
This is popular course aimed at people who want to use a chainsaw in their own domestic setting - either novice or for those with a little experience wanting to extend their skills.
This course is run as a small group and workshop topics include; chainsaw maintenance, PPE selection and use and emergency planning. Also included is safe starting of the chainsaw from cold, safety checks and basic crosscutting typically for firewood applications are covered in the afternoon.
We are trialing a combined course - Felling trees over 380mm, up to 760mm course and Assessited Felling.
Often on a Felling medium trees course, we use assisted felling techniques but there isn't the time to really develop or focus on these skills - as a result we're trialling a combined course.

A popular chainsaw training course for those wanting to learn about chainsaws for the first time or experienced users wanting to formalise their existing knowledge.
This course leads to the City & Guilds NPTC qualification which is the gateway to the entire suite of chainsaw units.
We can also run the Lantra Awards Chainsaw maintenance and cross cutting Integrated Training and Assessment. This is aimed at people who may need to use a chiansaw at work but it is not their main source of work.
