What does this Programme involve?

  • Gain all 3 of the main qualifications to set you up in the industry

What qualifications will I get?  

You join the existing course dates, allowing you to gain expereince in between and network with different people at varying stages of their career. (dates run throughout the year - next few dates are listed)

Chainsaw Maintenance, cross Cutting and Felling Trees up to 380mm

What equipment do I need for this Programme? 

We provide all PPE and equipment for this Programme.

You do need to use a two-rope system for tree climbing to comply with HSE and Arboriculture Association regulations. See Climbing kit list for equipment

City & Guilds requirements: Please note - Tree Climbing Equipment – LOLER

In order for aerial assessments to commence, you must provide evidence that the equipment to be used is fit for purpose and LOLER compliant. This means that it should have a unique identification and have been thoroughly examined by a competent person. The most current examination record must be provided where equipment is greater than 6 months old. If these records are not available for the Assessor to check, the assessment must not proceed.

How long does it take?

  • generally complete all the courses within 3-4 months
  • can be spread out over 6 months (max), if required

This is a discounted package, with kit hire included. If the courses are not completed or the later courses cancelled, the payment converts to the original course / kit hire costs.

 

What prior qualifications to I need?

  • Chainsaw Maintenance, cross cutting and Felling trees up to 380mm and Tree climbing and aerial rescue are required in order to do Aerial Tree Cutting. 
  • A level of fitness is required. 
  • Motivation and perseverance needed!

 

Where do the courses take place?

Our courses are held at our site near Tunbridge Wells, where we have a heated workshop and plenty of trees.

 

Do I have to do a First Aid course?’

First Aid training  Are you confident that you would know what to do if you had an accident at work? ..a catastrophic bleed?

We are pleased to now offer an Emergency Outdoor First Aid at Work course. Ian, Sussex Trauma, has a wealth of first aid and trauma experience.

  • bespoke course tailored to the industry
  • all the skills covered, including catastrophic bleeds and trauma
  • scenarios and accidents discussed are relevant to forestry and arb
  • Following discussions with him, he has created a more bespoke course for the industry
